{"id":100,"date":"2015-09-23T04:39:08","date_gmt":"2015-09-23T04:39:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/morningpost.today\/eng\/?p=100"},"modified":"2015-09-23T04:39:08","modified_gmt":"2015-09-23T04:39:08","slug":"walk-to-protect-from-congo-held-in-swat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/morningpostnews.pk\/eng\/walk-to-protect-from-congo-held-in-swat\/","title":{"rendered":"Walk to protect from Congo held in Swat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Fazal Khaliq\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MINGORA:\u00a0Officials of the district administration staged a walk here on Tuesday to create awareness of Congo fever prevention among local people.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Led by Swat deputy commissioner Mahmood Aslam and district health officer Dr Syed Ali the participants were holding banners inscribed with ways to check spread of Congo virus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking measures against the spread of Congo haemorrhagic fever virus is our collective responsibility. The virus is widely found in domestic animals. In the wake of Eidul Azha people must follow precautionary measures at the time slaughtering animals,\u201d said Mr Aslam after the walk.<\/p>\n<p>He said that gloves must be used by people who cut animals.<\/p>\n<p>He and the other officials on the occasion distributed pamphlets among people and asked them to read and educate their family members about the prevention of Congo fever.<\/p>\n<p>Though no case of the Congo fever has ever surfaced in Swat, people praised the campaign. \u201cWe have never worn gloves for cutting our sacrificial animals, but this time we will take the precautionary measures,\u201d said Zahid Iqbal in Mingora.<\/p>\n<p>Congo virus is found in the wild and domestic animals such as goats and sheep.
