SWAT:<\/strong>\u00a0Scout leaders on Friday affirmed to help the government in achieving the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goals in the country through the scouting movement.<\/p>\n They were speaking at a ceremony on the concluding day of Scout Week, which was organised by the Swat Scouts Open Group. A large number of young scouts, national level scout leaders and students participated in the event.<\/p>\n KP deputy scout secretary Fazal Ali, senior scout leader Amir Naushad and Amjad Ali were among the participants.<\/p>\n Addressing at the ceremony the scout leaders said that it was high time for youth of the region to join scouting movement because it was the movement which not only contribute to the development of youth in achieving intellectual, social and spiritual potentials towards the progress of their country.<\/p>\n \u201cDuring the scout week we involved our young scouts in various social activities including plantation cleanliness, raising awareness among public against the use of polythene bags, informing them about SDGs,\u00a0 performing traffic duty, conducting youth forum, training on fire fighting and prevention from spread of coronavirus,\u201d said Akhtar Ali group leader of the Swat Scouts Open Group, adding that the young scouts actively participated in all the activities.<\/p>\n He said that the scout week started from September 5 and ended on September 11.<\/p>\n Amir Naushad the senior scout leader appreciated the young scouts for taking keen interest in the social activities and said that the young scouts contributed for the progress of the country. \u201cOur youth should understand about the UN SDGs and should take part in achieving all the seventeen goals. I am happy that the scouts in Swat participated in healthy and positive activities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The scout leaders said that they would continue their social activities voluntarily and would serve the country at every platform.<\/p>\n \u201cScouting in Swat is very active and this is why the Swat Scouts Open Group won over 20 Gold Medals. I am very happy that the scouts not only learnt about the Sustainable Development Goals but also started working on them.
