Residents demand for immediate reconstruction of Barikot hospital

By Fazal Khaliq MINGORA: Residents of Barikot tehsil on Tuesday appealed to the provincial and federal governments to rebuild the civil hospital extensively damaged in the Oct 26 earthquake. According to the district health office in Swat, a total of 30 medical facilities, including civil hospitals, BHUs and dispensaries suffered damage in the quake. Of the 30 health facilities, three were declared dangerous as huge cracks had developed in the buildings. Rain, snowfall turn weather chilly in Swat

MINGORA: Rain in the plains and snowfall on the mountains brought the temperatures further down in Swat and Shangla on Monday. Rain coupled with cold winds lashed Mingora, Barikot, Kabal, Matta and Khawzakhela areas, while Malam Jabba and Kalam received heavy snowfall. According to the local Met office, about six inches of snow had fallen in Kalam and Malam Jabba. MINGORA: Office of the Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman) was set up in the district courts complex, Saidu Sharif. MINGORA:  Malakand police claimed on Thursday to have arrested 185 persons including 107 suspects along with weapons and drugs. According to the press release issued from the office of DIG Malakand Division, police during the previous 15 days have nabbed 78 criminals and 107 suspects from Swat, Shangla, Dir, Chitral, Buner and Malakand districts.
