MINGORA: Hamza Khan clinched the single title, Abdul Basit and Faisal Khan double title of the district badminton open championship here on Monday. The district badminton tournament was sponsored by District Sports Office and was organized by District Swat Badminton Association. MINGORA: Culture and civil society activists on Tuesday lauded KP chief minister’s assurance of keeping Jahanzeb College’s historical and cultural value intact. The recent earthquake caused cracks in the college’s building and was vacated by college administration after it was declared dangerous. The college was constructed by former Swat state’s ruler Miangul Abdul Haq Jahanzeb in 1952. 291 schools damaged by the Oct 26 earthquake in Swat
MINGORA: The Oct 26 earthquake completely destroyed 37 schools and damaged 254 others in Swat district, according to a report released by Alif Ailan. The initial survey report of the damages to education sector by the earthquake was presented at an all-party conference here on Tuesday. Alif Ailan representative and education activist, Dr Jawad Iqbal, said a total of 291 schools, 140 girls and 151 boys, were damaged in the earthquake.
