A special ceremony was organised in this connection by Pak Army at Fizaghat.
On the occasion, Brig Iqbal said the army did not forget the people who offered their lives for the country’s sake. “Journalists of Swat performed their duties wholeheartedly during military operation and Sirajuddin always used his pen for betterment of the valley,” He said, adding Siraj had a proud history of valour and professionalism.
He said the monument erected to recognise his services was not merely a structure of bricks but a homage to his heroic spirit.
Pak Army constructed the monument for the slain journalist after acknowledging his valued services rendered in the field of journalism. Sirajuddin was a committed and devoted journalist associated with the field for more than two decades.
During the rise of Taliban in Swat valley he received many threats from the extremists for his reporting in favour of the country. In case of non-compliance, he was threatened with dire consequences, but continued with his profession without any fear.
