MINGORA: Police and civil society members here on Thursday marked the police martyred day by paying tribute to the policemen martyred in line of duty.
A function was organised in Fizagat area in Swat to mark police martyrs day wherein families of the fallen policemen were invited. DIG Akhtar Hayat presided over the function that was attended by DPO Mohammad Ijaz Khan, DC Swat Amir Afqaq, district nazim Mohammad Ali Shah, all the DSPs and local elders.
“Swat police stood like rock against all kinds of evils, terrorists and anti-state elements and defeated them. The police martyrs sacrificed their lives for our peaceful future,” said DIG Akhtar Hayat on the occasion.
The relatives of the killed policemen said that they were proud of their fathers, brothers and uncles for sacrificing their lives for the land.
“I am proud of my uncle and grandfather, who laid their lives for the land and not only the state but also general public remembered them with respect,” said Sabila, a 10th grader.
The policemen donated blood for the patients of thalassemia on the day.
