MINGORA: The conflict-affected orphan and vulnerable girls studying at Khpal Kor Foundation said here on Saturday that their studies as well as hostel life had improved after getting uninterrupted supply of electricity.
They said that they started enjoying the facility of electricity without the menace of loadshedding after the 20KW solar energy system was installed in their organisation which was funded by the USAID Small Grants and Ambassador’s Fund Programme (SGAFP).
The system was installed in the girls’ campus of the foundation.
“Earlier, we would face many problems from heavy noise of generator to no light during loadshedding,” said Reema Taj, a student of 5th grade five.

Other girl students said that with the non-stop supply of electricity they now only enjoyed their time in school and hostel.
Kainat, another 5th grade student, said that the girls now carried out their activities in time in hostel. “Now we can sleep without the noise of generator and can do our homework in time,” she said.
The students said that electricity was the most essential blessing in the present day life and without it life got halted.
“Most importantly, it gets us connected with the whole world through internet where we can find educational and entertainment stuff,” said Rida Taj, another student.
The foundation’s director, Mohammad Ali, said that the solar system was saving a huge cost of electricity bills that would now be spent on other needs of the students.
The solar energy project was aimed at providing alternative source of energy to around 460 students who received education and boarding facilities.
