KOHISTAN:  Initiative for People in Need (IPN) arranged an exposure visit for youth of the Upper Kohistan to a 400-year old Mosque in Seo village.

IPN under the RICH KOHISTAN project also carried out three orientation sessions for the youth to sensitise them about the rich culture heritage of the area.

Revival of Indigenous Culture Heritage (RICH) is an initiative of the Directorate of Culture, Govt. of KhyberPakhtunkhwa aiming to revive the cultural heritage of the province in terms of diversity for peace, unity, promotion and preservation as well as awareness creation among the youth of the province.

RICH KOHISTAN aims to create awareness regarding revival of the local culture among the youth and public at large, to bring forth the local artists, poets, singers and performers as well as the handicrafts and indigenous wisdom.

The youth while visiting the old mosque appreciated its architecture particularly its beams and pillars adorned with unique carving.

The youth also took keen interest in the orientation sessions which were held in Karakoram Academy Ranolia, KIPS in Pattan and APS sier Ghazi Abad Pallas Kohistan.

“The main objective of the sessions was to orient the youth about losses of the cultural segments, both tangible and intangible, loss of value and traditions and ways forward,” said Dilawar Khan, the project coordinator of the RICH Kohistan, adding that more orientation sessions, exposure visits, revival of local games, local jirgas, cultural fairs and interactive theatres were planned ahead.
