SWAT: The Anti-Terrorism Court granted bail to 42 workers of Pakistan Tahreek-i-Insaaf here on Thursday and ordered the release of all the arrested workers and leaders.

Including the released PTI workers are former MPA Fazl Hakeem’s son and nephew, son of city mayor Shahid Khan, and former MNA Saleemur Rehman’s cousin.

For the PTI workers, Advocate Sohail Sultan appeared in the court on behalf of PTI.

Earlier last Monday, Khwazakhela police lodged an FIR against 2,500 Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf workers after the party’s Malakand division organised a workers’ convention in Khwazakhela tehsil. The police also arrested about 42 workers; the rest were in hiding.

The workers’ convention took place at the residence of Ali Shah Khan, an advocate in the Jano Kachigram area of Khwaza Khela tehsil. Leaders from the Malakand division, including former MNAs Junaid Akbar and Salim Ur Rehman, former MPAs Fazal Hakim and Shakeel Khan, Mingora city mayor Shahid Ali Khan, and various other local leaders attended the event. A significant turnout of PTI workers from the Malakand division actively participated in the convention.
