SWAT: The picturesque hills and plains of Swat Valley were blanketed in white as the season’s first snowfall graced the region on Sunday morning.

Breaking a prolonged dry spell, the snowfall in hilly areas like Malam Jabba, Kalam, Miandam, Madyan, Bahrain, Utror, Gabral, Matiltan, Mahodand, Gabin Jabba, and others brought joy not only to the residents but also attracted a surge of tourists eager to witness the winter wonderland.

Waheedullah Qarar, spokesperson for the Malam Jabba Ski Resort, expressed delight at the increased footfall of tourists, attributing it to the anticipated snowfall. “Today, with the expected snowfall, tourists have already arrived, and the number is increasing,” he remarked.

Among the excited visitors were two tourists who had come to Malam Jabba for the first time specifically to experience the snowfall. “We had heard about the snowfall prediction and decided to visit Swat. It’s thrilling to witness and enjoy the live snowfall,” they shared enthusiastically.

As the snow-covered landscape mesmerized tourists, many were seen engaged in various activities like throwing snowballs, sliding on tubes, and skiing. In contrast, others seized the moment to capture selfies against the scenic backdrop.

Saeed Ur Rehman, spokesperson for the Upper Swat Development Authority (USDA), highlighted the influx of tourists to popular spots like Kalam, Mahudand, Malam Jabba, and Gabin Jabba. He emphasized the importance of providing top-notch facilities to ensure a memorable experience for visitors. “Tourists should take precautions before visiting these spots during snowfall,” he advised.

To assist tourists and ensure their safety, Rehman recommended contacting the Tourism Helpline at 1422 for updates on the current situation at tourist spots. Additionally, he urged tourists heading to Malam Jabba, Kalam, Gabin Jabba, and other destinations to use chains in their vehicles for added safety on snow-covered roads.

With the region draped in a pristine white blanket, Swat Valley emerges as a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers, promising an unforgettable winter retreat amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Pakistan’s northwest.
