MINGORA: Member of civil society and literary circles unanimously decided to stand united for the protection of the historical building of the Jahanzeb College.
They decided this in a meeting held at Saidu Sharif on Sunday to save Jahanzeb college and declare it national heritage. Participants of the meeting opposed any attempt to demolish the college which was affected in the October 26 earthquake.
They said the college building was not a mere structure but a culture heritage and a source of enlightenment for all the Yousafzai Pashtoons. It is the first symbol of education in the region which reminds all Pasthoons that they are civilized nation.
They demanded the government must declare the college a national heritage along with all the buildings constructed in the Swat state era.
A future strategy was also chalked out to save the college building. Soon a delegation will also meet Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak to undertake the issue with him.
Usman Ulayar, Fazal Khaliq, professor Khurshaid, Afzal Shah, Niaz Ahmad Khan, Amjad Ali Sahab, Aftab Sparley, Aziz Ahmad, Dr Khalid Mahmood, Ahmad Hussain and Abdul Sattar participated in the meeting.
