MINGORA: Girl students and their teachers here have appreciated the initiative of a local councillor to set up computer labs in the schools.
Establishment of computer labs in the girls’ schools of Swat district kicked off on Wednesday with the government girls’ primary school Haji Baba, Mingora. The computer labs are being established by the district councillor and BISP provincial coordinator, Nasim Akhtar, who allocated Rs3 million from her local government funds for the purpose.
At the inaugural ceremony, Nasim Akhtar asked the girl students to work hard for the better future of the country. She said that it was the age of modern technology and Pakistan was lagging behind in the field.
“We need to work hard to join the developed nations. This is why I have decided to establish computer labs in the schools here,” she said.
The woman councillor said that several schools would be equipped with computer labs and hand pumps for drinking water would also be installed there, if required.
Students of the school appreciated the establishment of computer lab and said they were excited to see computers in their school.
“It was my dream to work on computer and at last my dream will come true after the establishment of the lab in our school,” said Sidra Ahmad, a student of grade-5. Teachers of the school thanked Nasim Akhtar for establishment of the computer lab.
