MINGORA: The newly elected office bearers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ski Association soon after the election vowed to develop three more ski slopes in Swat valley here on Monday.
The new cabinet of the KP Ski Association was elected unopposed for a four-year term in the election which held in a smooth way where two representatives of KP Olympic Association Zafar Ali and Kifayatullah and KP Sports Board representative Umer Zada were sitting to oversee the electoral process.
Saifullah Khan was declared unopposed as the president, Matiullah Khan as general secretary, Hidayat Ali Khan as senior vice president, Khan Zeb as vice president, Javed Ali Khan as joint secretary, Inam Khan as public relation officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ski Association for a four-year term while Sajid Khan, Habibullah Khan, Salman Khan, Gulalai and Liaqat Ali Khan were chosen members of the executive council.
General Secretary Matiullah Khan who is the pioneer of ski in Swat vowed to develop more ski slopes in Swat for the uplift of the game. “We are planning to develop more ski slopes in Swat as there are international standard spot for ski in Matta, Bahrain and Kalam tehsils. Soon we will launch a training and awareness raising campaign among the locals of these places where we have to develop ski slopes,” he told Dawn.
Inamullah the public relation officer of the Khyber Ski Association said that they started activities for the promotion of ski in 2001 after developing the Malam Jabba ski resort and since then they were working hard for the ski uplift. However, from 2007 till 2009 skiing competitions and trainings halted due to militancy.
“Apart from Malam Jabba ski resort Swat has several other ski slopes in which international standard ski slopes can be developed at Gabina Jabba , Boyun in Kalam and Miandam for which we have already started process,” he told Dawn, adding that local talent would be trained and polished for national and international skiing.
