SWAT: The picturesque valley of Kalam and its surrounding suburbs woke up to a winter wonderland as a blanket of snow covered the landscape after a heavy snowfall. Residents of Kalam, Utror, Gabral, and Matiltan valleys witnessed the transformation as the snowfall blanketed their surroundings, turning the region into a scene straight out of a postcard.

Simultaneously, a different weather phenomenon unfolded in the lowland areas of Swat Valley. Heavy rainfall coupled with stormy winds pounded the regions of Khwazakhela, Matta, Kabal, Mingora, and Barikot tehsils, bringing a deluge to the otherwise serene valley. The downpour was relentless, causing concern among residents and authorities alike.

“The snowfall has turned our valley into a magical paradise. It’s a sight to behold,” remarked Mohammad Ali, a resident of Kalam, as he ventured out to witness the snowy landscape.

“The rainfall has been quite heavy, and the winds are strong. We’re worried about potential flooding in our area,” expressed Izhar Ali Khan, a resident of Mingora, as she watched the rain battering her neighbourhood.

The abrupt change in weather brought about a significant drop in temperatures across both the highlands and lowlands of the Swat Valley. The combination of rain and snow turned the air chilly, prompting residents to bundle up and seek warmth indoors.

Local authorities have issued advisories urging residents to exercise caution while navigating the roads, particularly in the snow-affected areas where slippery conditions prevail. Additionally, measures have been taken to ensure the safety of residents in low-lying areas prone to flooding, with emergency response teams on standby.

As the weather continues to fluctuate, residents of Kalam and its suburbs brace themselves for the wintry conditions. At the same time, those in the lowlands of Swat Valley remain vigilant against the impact of heavy rainfall.
