SWAT: Speakers here on Monday said that poets were the eyes of a community who highlight the social issues through their poetry to make people realize for their better future.
They were speaking in a poetry recitation session titled “Da Sparli Gul” organized by the Shadow Foundation and Ghznavi School at Kuza Bandai area. Renowned poets from across the province including MPA Waqar Khan, professor Bakht Zada Danish, Sabir Ustad, Hanif Qais, Zafar Ali Naaz, Attaur Rehman Atta, Sairaj Lala, Riaz Haira, Samiullah Gran, Muhmmad Waseem recited their poems.
The poets said that holding poetry recitation was not only important for the promotion of language and literature but also to make general people realize about the social and cultural issues of communities.
“We have organized the poetry session to acknowledge the social services of late Kaki Jane Pacha who was a great social worker of the area. We also invited large number of youth here so that they can learn and understand about the essential literary genre,” said Hamza yousafzai, the organizer of the event.
The speakers said that poets were the sensitive section of a society who noted cultural, social, political and other issues and then highlighted them through their poetic pieces showing how to resolve them.
“It is highly appreciable that the youth are taking interest in literary circles and take part in poetry recitation sessions. Such events promote mother tongue as well as lead the youth towards healthy activities in this digital age,” said professor Attaur Rahman Atta, adding that through poetry poets shared the sufferings as well as the pleasures with each other.
He said that mother language was the real identity of a nation and should not be forgotten.
Chief guest of the event and renowned Pashto poet professor Bakht Zada Danish said that literary circles, poetry sessions and scholastic meetings were indispensable for the progress of a nation.
“Poets draw vision to the nations and they can see and feel what general public cannot. Poets highlight issues and disseminate them in an affectionate way. They disperse love and raise awareness,” he said.
More than 20 poets from across the province including two kid poets presented their poetic pieces who received high applause from participants.
At the end awards were also given to prominent social workers and poets.
