MINGORA: The special combat unit of the police on Saturday conducted a capacity building exercise for the personnel on countering terrorists in the hilly areas. The exercise was held in the Marghuzar hills.
Additional Inspector General, Tariq Javed, who monitored the exercise, later told Morning Post that KP police especially focused on training of personnel for combating terrorists hiding in hilly areas.
He said the provincial IGP had raised a special combat unit of the police which had received elite training from police and SSG training from Pak Army and Navy.
He said after getting extensive trainings the personnel of the police combat unit were provided real-time preparedness as was done in the hills of Marghuzar to test their abilities on ground. “The personnel showed professional skills and preparedness in all circumstances,” he added.
District Police Officer (DPO) Swat Saleem Marwat said that the special combat unit was an in-time and most needed addition in the police force.
“The special combat unit has been conducting several exercises in the mountainous regions of Swat since the 14th of this month. After the mountain exercises we understand the unit is completely trained and ready,” he said.
Sajid Khan, SP of the Special Combat Unit Malakand said that the unit was highly committed and ready to combat uneven situation.
“We are completely equipped and ready for the protection of our beloved country anytime and anywhere,” he said.
“Today’s exercise was to stop and crush terrorists who intend to attack or harm people from mountains. The exercise was important which added a lot in our professional skills. We are fully prepared to combat any wrong intention of anti-state elements anywhere on the surface of the earth,” said one of the special combat commandoes.
