MINGORA: Students of the government postgraduate girls college Saidu Sharif here on Friday took part in a spring plantation and beautification project on the premises of the college.
According to the college administration the green spring plantation drive is aimed to make the college green and to provide pleasant and healthy environment to students and staff.
The students and teachers took active part in the plantation campaign, saying they enjoyed planting trees and flowers to make their college look beautiful.
“I enjoy taking part of the plantation and beautification project of the college. It is making me fall in love with greenery,” Hajra Bibi, a student of BA, said, adding such projects should be carried on regular basis.
The students planted various species of flowers in long, square and round flowerbeds and also decorated the college lawn with flower containers and pots.
The students said along with regular studies they should be involved in such healthy activities which entailed long-term benefits for environment and health.
“We the girls have little opportunities to take part in social activities, and the tree plantation and beautification project of our college has given us an opportunity to involve in some productive activity,” said Abna, another BA student.
Principal of the college Dr Nargis Ara said that the plantation and beautician activity was initiated on the directives of KP higher education department which was being carried out along with environment cleanliness in the college.
“With the help of tree plantation we will protect ozone layer which is a protective layer and prevent harmful solar radiations while the colourful flowers will decrease anxiety level and attract human being towards nature,” she said.
She appreciated the active participation of staff and students of the college and vowed to continue healthy activities in future.
